Beach Boys Star Mike Love Goes to Extreme Lengths To Protect His $43 Million Lake Tahoe Home From Developers
Beach Boys star Mike Love has revealed the extraordinary lengths he went to preserve the natural beauty surrounding his sprawling $43 million Lake Tahoe estate, placing 6 acres of neighboring land under conservation protection to prevent future development.
The 85-year-old musician, who put his longtime Nevada retreat on the market earlier this year, took several steps to protect the dwelling and the surrounding forest and wildlife.
According to People, Love and his wife, Jacquelyne Piesen, arranged for 6 acres surrounding their Incline Village property to be protected from development, helping preserve the towering pine trees and wildlife that characterize the area.
The conservation effort adds another layer of privacy to the already secluded mansion, which is nestled into the mountainside in Incline Village, overlooking Lake Tahoe.
The couple have been passionate about preserving the natural environment around their home, having worked with local organizations to support efforts to maintain the lake's water quality.

Their commitment to the area is reflected in the property itself, which was constructed using stone from the surrounding land.
The mansion, which was built in 1997 and has three stories, is situated on a 2.5-acre parcel and sprawls 18,922 square feet.
The couple decided to list the estate earlier this year, bringing the home to market in April with an eye-watering $43 million asking price.
The listing is held by Jeannette Harpole of Keller Williams Realty.
The decision to sell comes after the couple's eight children reached adulthood, leaving Love and Piesen with considerably less need for such an expansive family residence.
However, the home has served as far more than a place to raise their family.
Throughout his decades of ownership, Love also used the property as a creative retreat, incorporating spaces dedicated to music and relaxation.
The estate previously boasted a recording studio, where the hitmaker could work on his music. Although the room has since been repurposed, architectural features associated with its former use remain.
The property's musical history is just one of its many distinctive features.
With 10 bedrooms, 12 full bathrooms, and three half-bathrooms, the mansion offers ample accommodations for family members and guests.

The primary suite is situated in its own wing, providing a private retreat within the enormous residence.
It features two bathrooms, a secluded sun deck, and a coffee bar.
Elsewhere, eight bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, while several feature private balconies overlooking the surrounding landscape.
The home's entertaining spaces are equally impressive.
At the heart of the residence is an expansive living room featuring towering windows that showcase the lake and nearby Sierra Nevada.
Retractable glass doors connect the interior to an outdoor terrace, allowing the living spaces to open directly onto the scenic surroundings.
The kitchen and dining areas also take advantage of the property's elevated position, offering views of the water.
Additional amenities include a home theater, wine cellar, and fitness center.
Outside, the property offers an array of recreational features, including a swimming pool and a hot tub large enough to accommodate 10 people.
There is also a playground and custom trampoline, while the upper lawn has previously been transformed into a temporary ice-skating rink.
Despite the extensive amenities, the surrounding landscape remains one of the property's most notable features.

The 6 acres of conservation land help preserve the wooded setting around the home, distinguishing it from luxury properties where neighboring development could eventually alter the surrounding views and sense of seclusion.
Love's efforts to protect the environment extend beyond his personal property.
According to People, the couple have partnered with the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the University of California, Davis, on initiatives aimed at protecting Lake Tahoe.
In 2012, Love also attended the dedication of a $2.4 million roundabout project in the area, which was designed to improve road safety while supporting efforts to protect the lake's water quality.
His environmental interests have also influenced his music.
During a 2021 interview with Uncut, Love reflected on the message behind the Beach Boys' song "Don't Go Near the Water," which addressed environmental pollution and encouraged greater awareness of humanity's impact on the planet.
The musician has continued to advocate for environmental protection throughout his career, making the conservation efforts surrounding his own residence an extension of those interests.
Now, after spending more than 40 years at the Lake Tahoe retreat, Love and Piesen are preparing to hand over the keys to a new owner.
While the mansion offers an extraordinary collection of amenities and sweeping views, the protected acreage surrounding the property represents a lasting part of Love's connection to the landscape.
And although the couple are moving on from the residence, their decision to preserve the neighboring land means the surrounding forest will remain protected from development.
