Serena Williams’ Tennis Career Helped Her Build $35 Million Property Portfolio—Can She Net More Real Estate Grand Slams With Her Comeback?
Sporting superstar Serena Williams is making her official comeback to professional tennis later this month—nearly four years after she bowed out of the sport with what was thought to be her final appearance at the U.S. Open in New York.
Williams, 44, revealed on June 1 that she has accepted a wild-card invitation to play at the HSBC Championships, which kick off on June 6 in London, saying in an official statement that it "feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter."
"Grass has given me some of the most meaningful moments of my career, and I'm excited to be back competing on one of the sport's most iconic stages," she went on.
According to the official tournament website, Williams will be joined by a host of leading tennis stars at the tournament, including Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Amanda Anisimova, and Emma Radacanu, although it is currently unclear who she will face in the opening stages of the competition.
Still, the tennis pro, who shares two daughters with her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, comes out of retirement as one of the most successful athletes to ever take part in the sport—having won 23 major titles, 73 career single titles, and 14 major doubles titles alongside her sister, Venus Williams, according to ESPN.

She is also reported to be the highest-paid female athlete of all time, having earned a staggering $94 million throughout her career; as of 2025, Forbes placed her estimated net worth at a whopping $350 million.
Even if she is unable to replicate the success she enjoyed during the bulk of her on-court career, it's likely that Williams will continue to be one of the most financially lucrative athletes currently playing the sport—with her longtime sponsor Nike already indicating its commitment to her comeback by sharing a video teasing her return to the court.
And Williams has by no means kicked back and relaxed since walking off the court in 2022; instead of focusing her efforts on training, she has instead worked on expanding her personal and professional ventures, from her beauty brand, WYN, to her fashion line, S by Serena, to her property portfolio, which she has been steadily building for many years now.
The athlete and her husband, who has his own estimated net worth of $150 million, are primarily based in Florida, where they own multiple homes, including a dazzling primary residence in Jupiter, FL, which Williams snapped up for $5.7 million in 2017—before spending millions more on a complete overhaul of the abode.
Working with her sister, Venus, who owns an interior design firm, Williams turned the property into her dream dwelling, complete with every luxurious amenity imaginable, including—of course—a private trophy room.
However, she and Ohanian did not stop there, going on to invest in several other dwellings in Florida and beyond.
Here, Realtor.com® lifts the lid on Williams' many properties—including the luxurious abode where she has been prepping for her on-court return and the elegant home she shared with her sister for many years.
Inside Serena Williams' custom-designed primary residence

Williams snagged a six-bedroom, eight-bedroom Mediterranean mansion north of Miami in 2017 for $5.7 million. The riverfront estate, which is located in a "premium" enclave in Jupiter, was described in its listing as being a "gorgeous custom-built" abode that offered 6,770 square feet of living space.
The gated estate came with more than a half-acre of land and included a private boat dock, heated pool and spa, and private beach access.
While the dwelling had been "newly updated" when Williams purchased it, she proceeded to overhaul it.
Images taken of the home when the tennis pro showed it off in an Architectural Digest spread reveal the extensive transformation she carried out with the help of Venus, who runs her own design firm, V Starr.
Speaking to AD, Williams credited her sister and longtime doubles teammate for helping her to create the perfect home for her family.
"You have to know your lane. I’m really good at playing tennis; I’m not as good at interiors. But I was able to learn through just watching Venus," she said.
The project was particularly emotional for both sisters, because it marked the first time they were planning to live separately, having shared the same Palm Beach Gardens dwelling for nearly 20 years—which Williams resided in part time while also traveling between her homes in California and Europe.
"I was moving away from Venus for the first time in my life, so I wanted it to be really meaningful," Williams explained to AD while discussing the project.
In place of the Mediterranean-style property now sits an ultramodern megamansion that was custom designed for the sports star and her family, including two children.
Unique amenities include an art gallery, a trophy room, and a 620-square-foot closet.
Today, Realtor.com® estimates the property is worth well above $13.4 million—and that's without the inclusion of Williams' extensive updates.

Williams and Ohanian snap up another Florida abode
In 2020, the couple acquired another property in Jupiter, which was purchased via the same LLC as Williams' other Florida home.
The duo snapped up the 10,433-square-foot home, which has a own tennis court, for $8 million.
The eight-bedroom seven-bathroom property sits on 4.12 acres and boasts a chef's kitchen, home theater, entertainment room, and primary suite with a fireplace and private waterfront balcony.
It also features a gym, impact-resistant doors and windows, three-car garage, security system, two emergency generators, and water tanks.
Realtor.com estimates the home is worth upward of $13.4 million in the current market.
Making a pretty profit on property
Williams previously had a third property in Jupiter, a 2.4-acre vacant lot, which she listed for $6.5 million in 2017, just three years after purchasing it for $4.12 million in 2014. The lot was sold in May 2018, according to property records.
The buyer of that land used it as the site for an extraordinary megamansion that was built from the ground up—and was designed for "luxury wellbeing," according to its recent listing.
It was placed on the market in October 2024 for a staggering $58 million.
A sweet base in the Sunshine State
Williams is also linked to a Palm Beach Gardens dwelling, which records show was purchased for $815,000 in 2015 through an LLC that she is listed as the manager of.
The property spans just over 4,100 square feet and features four bedrooms, as well as more than half an acre of land.

Sister Act: Serena and Venus' shared dwellings
As siblings, Williams and sister Venus played together, competed together, and shared a home.
They purchased an acre of land in BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, with both water and golf course views. They paid $525,000 in 1998. They lived together in the private and secure mansion they built on the parcel.
The triple-gated estate offers 8,000 square feet of living space, with two spacious primary suites with private offices. Luxe amenities include four guest suites and an outdoor living area with a pool and spa, cabana, and kitchen.
The sisters listed the sweet spread for $2.7 million in 2018. It was sold in early 2019 for $2.3 million.
Williams also owned a home nearby that she bought in 2015 for $2.5 million. The five-bedroom, 5,600-square-foot mansion overlooks a canal and features built-ins, marble floors, and a three-car garage. The 1.25-acre property comes with a pool, spa, and outdoor kitchen.
Property records show she sold the place in 2021 for $2.8 million.
Williams' West Coast abode
Williams, a Los Angeles native, has owned several trophy homes in Southern California. Although she has shed some of her Golden State holdings, she held on to one posh property in Beverly Hills.
Williams bought the brand-new home in 2017 for $6.68 million. The beautiful five-bedroom abode measures 6,000 square feet.
It features oak flooring, an open floor plan, contemporary finishes, and walls of glass.
Luxe amenities include a gym, wine cellar, and bar. The grassy grounds include a pool and an outdoor kitchen.
Williams tested the market in 2021, asking for $7.5 million for the lovely residence. But later in the year, she took the home off the market and records show she still owns it.
Realtor.com estimates that it is now worth more than $8.4 million.

Bye bye, Bel-Air
Around the time Williams picked up her Beverly Hills abode, she was ready to bid goodbye to her home in the Bel-Air neighborhood.
The elegant seven-bedroom estate spanned 6,101 square feet. Highlights included a semicircular living room, white marble flooring, and glass doors to the gardens.
The property also boasted 2.76 acres, a loggia, and a pool.
Located in the Stone Canyon area, the swell home built in 1935 initially landed on the market for $12 million in 2017, about twice what Williams paid for the place in 2006.
She reduced the price to $10 million after about a year, and the home was eventually sold in 2019 for $8.1 million.
It came back on the market in 2020 and was sold for slightly under $8 million.
Big action in the Big Apple
The sister act also owned a pied-à-terre in Manhattan. They picked up a 1,800-square-foot, two-bedroom loft in 2006 for $1.3 million.
They listed their crash pad in 2015 and, within months, sold it for $2.1 million. It was slightly over their asking price.
Williams also holds the keys to a two-bedroom apartment in Paris, which she purchased in 2007 during her tennis circuit. The apartment features a cozy fireplace, renovated kitchen, and intimate aesthetic.
Her husband has also jumped into the real estate game. The Reddit co-founder let go of his Brooklyn apartment in 2022 for $2.3 million.
The entrepreneur purchased the unit in 2011 for $12.5 million. It has been on the luxury rental market since 2016 and was most recently available for $7,500 a month.
Located in Brooklyn Heights, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit features 1,385 square feet of living space, 13-foot-high ceilings, and oversized windows.
