Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Engagement Is Given Spooky Halloween Spin Outside Iconic New Orleans Home

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement has been featured in hundreds—nay thousands—of headlines, but the iconic moment has now been immortalized in a very unusual way after a New Orleans homeowner used it as inspiration for a spooky Halloween display.

Longtime NOLA resident Louellen Berger has become renowned for putting up brilliant celebrity-themed skeleton spectacles outside her home in the Louisiana city, earning viral fame in 2024 when she re-created some of Swift's most memorable "Eras Tour" outfits and put them on show on her lawn.

Berger, who began decorating the front lawn of her 1950s property about 20 years ago, has become so famous that her dwelling has been given its own name—"Skeleton House NOLA"—and even a dedicated Instagram account that showcases the displays every year.

This year, the "Queen of Halloween" has added Kelce, 35, to the mix, using two skeletons to re-create the moment when the Kansas City Chiefs star got down on one knee and proposed to Swift, 35, at his $6 million Kansas home.

Berger even added a floral arch to mirror the one that Kelce set up in the backyard of his mansion.

“Anything Travis and Taylor [is popular] these days. They did get engaged in his yard garden. So, I did these skeletons to look like the yard garden, and of course, I had to include the big, big ring,” Berger told local outlet WGNO.

The Swift skeleton comes complete with a wig and a striped gown, while the Kelce skeleton is positioned down on one knee, asking the pop star for her hand in marriage.

Hours later, Kelce's dad, Ed, 74, let fans in on some of the secrets of their big day, confessing that Swift has been hiding the proposal for "two weeks."

While speaking with News 5, Ed revealed that his son got down on one knee "maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago" at Kelce's dwelling.

"He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big, special event.

"And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event ... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you," he revealed.

It comes as no surprise that Kelce chose to ask Swift to marry him at his home, as it boasts an overwhelming amount of privacy and lush greenery—two things the pop star is known for adoring.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end snapped up the 17,000-square-foot mansion in the desirable suburb of Leawood, KS, in September 2022 for $6 million.

The NFL star, who began dating the "Lover" hitmaker in 2023, popped the question with a stunning diamond ring that perfectly matched the other sparkler that he previously gifted her.

The news of their engagement came after Swift made a surprise appearance on her now-fiance's podcast, "New Heights," which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

It also comes just months after Swift achieved her goal of buying back the rights to her music.

The couple's proposal isn't the only big moment highlighted in Berger's front yard. She also gives a playful nod to other pop culture moments, such as the infamous Coldplay concert where the former CEO of Astronomer was outed for being in a relationship with his colleague.

Berger made good use of the balcony at her property, turning it into the VIP box where married executive Andy Byron and Astronomer's now-former HR boss, Kristin Cabot, were caught enjoying a cozy embrace on the jumbotron at the concert.

To make sure there could be no doubt about the moment she was re-creating, Berger added a sign that reads: "COLDplay JumBONEtron."

Other stars given Berger's signature skeleton spin on her yard include Fats Domino, Harry Connick Jr., Ernie K. Doe, River Eckert, Katy Perry, Chappell Roan, and Beyoncé.

“An artist that I’ve admired for years and years, but I couldn’t think of a clever name for is Beyoncé. How could she fit with my bone theme? All of a sudden, it hit my husband, Darryl. He said, 'How about The Great Beyondcé,'" Berger explained.

In recent years, the Skeleton House has become an attraction for visitors and residents alike, with dozens of videos of Berger's display shared on TikTok in 2024.

The New Orleans homeowner has also become a local celebrity in the process—having revealed to People that she started her little hobby on the small side with just a few skeletons jauntily arranged, including "one doing a backbend, another with a hula hoop, and a third in a cartwheel.

"Eventually, our local newspaper named the skeleton in the tree 'Lazy Bones,' which inspired me to give the rest of the skeletons punny names that matched their poses," she explained.

Now, every year for two special days, she and Darryl decide on a theme for the yard and set up the two dozen bone men to the delight of her Instagram followers and neighbors. She even takes suggestions for pose ideas.

Berger said she has always been a fan of Halloween, from childhood to grandmother-hood. Her son, Ryan, noted that she always tries to come up with a look that taps into today's zeitgeist.

"Hardly anything is as current and fun as Taylor Swift descending on New Orleans the weekend before Halloween, so suffice it to say, she went all out with the skeleton display,” he told People.
