September home maintenance priorities for South Windsor
Cool, dry weather creates the perfect backdrop for tackling fall chores:
- Check walkways for cracks. “Fix walkway and entryway areas before slippery weather can cause a tripping or falling accident,” advises Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric.
- Clean siding. After summer humidity, Chris Granger of Sears Home Services notes that siding can show mildew or dirt. A good pressure wash can refresh curb appeal and uncover hidden issues.
- Sweep the chimney. Even if warmer days linger, cooler nights will arrive. “Built-up soot in your chimney can increase your risk of a chimney fire,” warns Lindsey Pasieka of ConsumerSafety.org.
- Change HVAC filters. Dirty filters reduce efficiency and can damage systems over time. Granger recommends replacing them monthly to keep bills in check.
