Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander Reveals His Wife Valerie Is Pregnant With Their 14th Child

Former Seattle Seahawks star Shaun Alexander has announced that his wife, Valerie, is pregnant with their 14th child—11 years after the couple snapped up a compound in Virginia, where they have since raised their growing brood.

Shaun, 48, who wed his 46-year-old wife in 2002, shared the news during an appearance on the "Up and Adams" show this week, while discussing an initiative that he and Valerie launched to help homeschooled children gain better access to sports.

"We're just now starting to tell people, but No. 14 is in the belly," he revealed, prompting podcast host Kay Adams to compare Shaun's brood to that of former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers, who has 10 children.

"Philip Rivers get to work," she joked. "Philip steals headlines with 10! You only have 10 children, Philip? Get a grip."

Adams then told Shaun that his growing brood should absolutely secure him a spot in the NFL Hall of Fame alongside Rivers, saying: "We should take his Hall of Fame away and give it to you."

"Yeah, I want my kids to see the Hall of Fame, am I asking too much?" Shaun joked in response.

Soon after his interview was published, his wife confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a series of videos and photos of herself throughout each of her pregnancies—and revealing that she is due to give birth in February 2026.

"I am so excited about our newest little one, arriving 2/17/2026!" she wrote. "Every child is a miracle, a blessing, and a gift. We thank God for each of our children and count them as true treasures."

Neither Shaun nor Valerie have revealed the gender of their unborn child—however the couple has already welcomed 10 girls and three boys since they tied the knot 23 years ago. Their ninth child, daughter Torah, died in her sleep in 2017 at just 2 months old.

Together, the couple also shares daughters Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Temple, Honor, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, and Judea, as well as sons Joseph, Justus, and Jedidiah.

According to property records, the family's primary residence is located in Purcellville, VA, where Shaun's eponymous company, Shaun Alexander Enterprises, is based.

The duo snapped up the home for $1.1 million in 2014—the same year that Shaun attempted to sell a large plot of land in Issaquah, WA, which he snapped up in 2006.

Former NFL star Shaun bought three separate parcels in the same transaction and listed that land for sale for $3.5 million in 2014, however records show that they still own the property.

According to reports, the football player had been planning to construct a large estate for his family on the land, which is located not far from Seattle, however he was cut by the Seahawks in 2008—before signing with the Washington Commanders, who were then known as the Washington Redskins.

He was released by that team after just one month, however his close connection to the region appears to have remained, with records showing that he and Valerie laid down roots in Virginia in June 2014.

Both Valerie and Shaun have proudly showcased their property on social media, where the pregnant mom regularly documents what their life is like at home with so many children.

Shaun has also brought his brood along to several milestone events even after his retirement from the NFL, including his 2022 Ring of Honor celebration with the Seattle Seahawks.

At the time, the athlete had 11 children, all of whom he proudly posed with on the field, before sharing a tribute to his family on Instagram.

"The Ring of Honor celebration last weekend was amazing. More than anything, my journey has been all about family," he wrote. "I’m grateful that for the first time, my entire family was able to travel to Seattle and be with the Seahawks. We take the meaning of ‘the 12’s’ to a whole new level. Haha. Go Hawks."

More recently, Shaun took his three sons to the 2025 NFL Draft, revealing on social media that the trip had been a special birthday request by Jedidiah.

"I asked Jedidiah what he wanted for his birthday; he said go somewhere with you. So, draft it was. Great time with my boys," he wrote.
